H: The primary goal was to create something that utilized and combined our separate skill-sets into one cohesive style, while challenging us to learn new skills and expand on our individual mindsets. We also wanted to focus on sustainability and honoring that which was previously created; neither of us produced anything new for this project. I think as people we’re all too quick to move on and search for shiny, new things instead of appreciating what’s already in front of us. When you create a piece of art, you’re materializing that moment of your life, your experiences, your psyche. Thus, that moment is able to persist longer and be shared with others. So this collaboration was also us breathing new life into these past moments which we’d both already created.

D: Through and through we repeated this cycle. We had that first session where you looked through some of my archived pieces while I looked at your artwork. Each piece of clothing became a new canvas for your past work and that felt really good to me. I remember feeling like we gravitated towards a similar color palette. Similar subject matter. Once this zine is done maybe this will be what made the collaboration haha but seriously diving this deep into a series of subjects and feelings was a huge project, I think we both spent time reminiscing on our past work a ton. I don't know about you but for me the oldest piece in this collection from Rottweiler was designed in 2015. It makes it feel like collaborative meditation, a reflection, like people are mirrors you get what I'm saying?

'CONNECT’ is a lookbook, collaborative zine & conversational interview detailing the inspirations and process behind a year of Rottweiler x Hayley Thomas collaboration. The collection introduces a line of 1 of 1 pieces with a focus on sustainability in art & streetwear via re-use. Shot in film & digital.

Sustainability through streetwear part 2: MOBIUS LOOP ART SHOW presented by Rottweiler & Hayley Thomas. Together, we created a new collage - turned - tricolor screenprint in order to upcycle the remainder of our pieces & host a community event. Titled “X-Ray” the collage paints human anatomy as a blend of organic life and inorganic waste.
